A website fit for Active Northumberland

Active Northumberland has the ambition to become the leading sports facility provider in the region - to achieve this, they needed to compete with the big national chains in the region.

Having recently moved away from a council-run structure and received a boost in funding, they now have state-of-the-art facilities across Northumberland. It was our mission to make the people of Northumberland aware and excited about them.

Our insights told us that to attract new customers, Active Northumberland needed to highlight the value of their membership. And the best way to do this would be by showcasing the breadth of services and facilities, access to fitness experts and overall community feel.

We redesigned their online experience and gave it a modern, fresh and exciting look, creating an intuitive journey that allowed users to easily explore Active Northumberland’s facilities and services. But more importantly, the website shows how much more personality they have compared to the fitness provider chains.

As with everything we build at DC, all the gritty nuts and bolts were taken care of to make the experience great for the user and the editor. Built on an Umbraco CMS, the options for future expansion are endless, and there are ambitious plans to integrate a live timetable – something completely new for Active Northumberland. We delivered a website that’s more than fit for purpose and can only get better.
