Two Heads Are Better Than One

By Nichola Elgie, Senior Account Director

Two lovely new people have arrived in the agency. But how can we get to know them? Questions, of course. The kind of questions that we ask around the water cooler (or Franke the coffee machine). Questions that delve into the depths of humanity. Like what would you do with unlimited cash?

Rebecca is our new Senior Account Manager. She’s got a nose for great campaigns.

What are you most looking forward to about working at DC?

I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into some BIG, exciting campaigns, and to be working alongside and learning from some of the best creators, thinkers, and do-ers, in the industry!

What is your proudest accomplishment?

DC has a great rep regionally and nationally, so to be part of team DC is an accomplishment in itself. BUT, I’m pretty proud of the time I climbed to the third highest peak on Mount Kenya, Point Lenana (4,985m) back in 2013.

Can you tell us about a campaign that inspired you?

This Girl Can remains a campaign which has inspired me, and still to this day remains a highly influential movement. With its initial aim being to tackle the gender activity gap and to empower women to think differently about exercising, it’s developed over the years shifting the focus to the importance of movement, moving in a way that works for you, and then the idea of exercising for your own confidence and enjoyment. The brand is simple and highly recognisable, and has collaborated with some huge names such as Disney and Sure; with the campaign now in its eighth year, I can see it being as recognisable in the next eight years to come.

What talent would you show off in a talent show?

I can do this weird thing with my face, where I puff my cheeks out and wiggle my nose – I’m not sure if that’s something for a talent show, or a circus?

And Jess is our new Account Manager. She’s got a thing about yachts.

What are you most looking forward to about working at DC?

I am looking forward to a new challenge and working in a fast-paced environment surrounded by talented individuals I can learn from. In my last job, I made up the organisation's entire marketing department and I really craved working with people. I am super excited to work collaboratively in a large team!

If you could go back in time to any moment in history, what would you choose?

Although I have stepped away from a job in rugby, I would still have to choose one of the greatest sporting moments; the 2003 World Cup Final, England V Australia. I would have loved to be in the crowd and watch the historic Jonny Wilkinson drop goal in the last minute of extra time to secure England the win.

If you had unlimited money, what would you spend your time doing?

If I had unlimited money, I would love to finally make use of my sailing qualification and sail around the world (preferably the Mamma Mia 2 sailing yacht!).

If you could go for a drink with a celebrity, who would it be and why?

My overly competitive self would love to go for a drink with Paula Radcliffe. I would love to gain all the tips and tricks of the trade from the former iconic British long-distance runner- help me shave off the crucial seconds!
