Ladies, Wine and Design is a monthly event series held at BALTIC39 on High Bridge Street. It’s made up of a limited group of six kick-ass creative ladies. We drink wine and have casual conversations on a wide variety of topics relating to creativity, business and life. We’re all about mentoring, collaborating and championing creative women across lots of disciplines.
Less than a year after famous creative director and designer, Jessica Walsh launched LW&D, the collective had spread to 130 cities (and counting), all over the world. The Toon movement began in May 2017 and we’re slowly building a strong community in our local creative scene. Along the way, we’ve had some great guests and supporters. We’re really grateful to all those who’ve shared their stories and knowledge, and helped us out.
Last Wednesday, we held our first anniversary bash in association with the fabulous ladies at The Biscuit Factory. It was a great opportunity for all of the lasses who’ve come along in the last year (along with some new faces) to get together in the one room.
Our host Juli Vignette, kicked off the night with an intro to what our collective is all about. Next up, we split everyone up into small groups (the whole point of LW&D is that it’s intimate, so less scary) and asked each team to design a wine bottle and then pitch their entry in around a minute. It was a good giggle and every single team took a different approach. After breaking for amazing food, we held a quiz, followed by great tunes and chit-chat.
All in all, it was a brilliant night and here’s to many more. If you’re a female creative or student in any discipline, and would like to join us, get your name on the list. It’s free and reservations are first come, first served. We’re on the socials and you can see what’s coming up on the website. Pass it on.
