The world was haunted by Donald Trump’s words earlier this week, when he promised that any future threats from North Korea “will be met with fire and fury”. He said it twice, adding to the impact of those carefully chosen words.
‘Fire and fury’, three little words which have reverberated around the world provoking a range of reactions, from anger and outrage through to panic and fear. As a Trainee Copywriter entering the advertising industry only a few months ago, it really got me thinking about the power of words and their impact. Words can make you smile, laugh, cry and provoke change.
Indeed, in 1955 when Rosa Parks was asked if she was going to stand up, and she replied, ’No, I’m not’, her three little words changed the world in ways she couldn’t have imagined.
I’m learning very quickly that what we say can have a huge impact on the world around us.
