Setting the scene for a new Northumberland

It’s in our DNA to really care about our clients. We love developing creative ideas to tackle all kinds of different problems they face. But Coronavirus presented an entirely new challenge, and as lockdown began to hit our region, we quickly realised it would have a very particular impact on Northumberland Tourism.

Having worked closely with Northumberland County Council and Northumberland Tourism over a number of months, we came to really appreciate the huge value of tourism to the county. As well as being the second largest employer in the region, it’s a major economic driver, contributing £1 billion to the local economy and attracting more than 10 million visitors each year.

We know (thanks to years of marketing experience and the data to back it up) that in a time of crisis, it’s vital brands don’t go silent, yet it’s equally important to be sensitive, especially when so many are affected. So while Coronavirus prevents us from being able to tell visitors to come to Northumberland, we knew there was still plenty to shout about. Our response was to create ‘Unspoilt Northumberland’ – a film that brings to life the memories of those who’ve visited in the past and to inspire others to visit in the future.

This video is just the start of a far bigger piece of work which we can’t wait to share over the coming months. From the famous landmarks to the B&B’s, the castles to the museums – all these icons of the tourism industry are hurting and need support. We hope our creativity will play a part in helping those businesses, so crucial to the region, emerge stronger and more attractive to visitors than ever before.
