Each year, Pantone releases its Colour of the Year, drawing on modern culture, entertainment, sport, fashion, art, travel, emerging tech and the world of social. In the new year, we’re making way for Living Coral – a colour said to be ‘the embodiment of 2019’, taking all trend predictions into account.
Living Coral’s been described as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge.” It’s said to be uplifting, bright and chilled out – a therapeutic shift and dramatic contrast to the bold, glam-rock vibes of 2018’s Ultra Violet.
Pantone have stated “Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.”
As brands become more experience-focused and push for quality, rather than quantity on their socials – the vibes and trends that inform the Pantone Colour of the Year choice are already coming into fruition.
But what do you think of Pantone’s choice? Will you be covering your brand in Living Coral?
