We’re happy to have welcomed four insanely talented new additions to the DC team.

Starting a new job is never easy. You’re trying to make a good first impression whilst remembering everyone’s name and where the kettle is. Start in the middle of a pandemic and you also have to worry about meeting colleagues virtually and whether to elbow bump or not. Despite this, our new arrivals have risen to the challenge and settled perfectly into DC life. Introducing Ross, Iain, David and Kat…

Ross Waters Senior Artworker

Tell us a bit about the real you. What keeps you busy outside the office?

I’m a huge Eurovision fan. Some people travel around to watch their favourite team, I travel to whatever city is hosting Eurovision to watch it!

Name a campaign or piece of work you’ve seen recently that you wish you’d been a part of?

It was really interesting to see how brands have reacted to the coronavirus pandemic, although it became a bit of a gimmick. One that stuck with me was KFC removing their ‘It’s Finger Lickin’ Good’ tagline, which worked really well. Plus I’m seeing the KFC ads everywhere at the moment (but maybe that says more about my search history than how good a campaign it was).

Iain Thompson Studio Manager

Tell us a bit about the real you. What keeps you busy outside the office?

Outside of the office I spend a lot of time with my family, spending as much time as possible outdoors exploring with my kids. I love running as it provides some much-needed me time, I spend most of the time thinking about ideas for the novel I’m in the process of writing. I love travelling and enjoy exploring new places, particularly abroad, I like taking inspiration from other cultures and trying any new food I come across.

What three things are always on your desk (at home or in the office)?

I’ve always got a hot drink, headphones and most importantly, my to-do list.

David Walsh Front-end Developer

Tell us a bit about the real you. What keeps you busy outside the office?

At the moment, we are limited to what we can do, but before COVID I was a keen boulderer, enjoyed swimming and also the gym. So I guess you could say I like to stay active. I am hoping to check out the coast soon and I also want to cycle through Northumberland National Park.

What three things are always on your desk (at home or in the office)?

The things you will see scattered around my desk can change day to day. However, the only certainty is my headphones. There are times when you just want to drown out the world and focus on the task at hand!

Kat Murphy Senior Account Director

Tell us a bit about the real you. What keeps you busy outside the office?

I am a new mother to a fiery, fun, red-headed little boy (Jack, 15 months) who has recently gained a worrying obsession with Baby Shark – so I’m generally busy thinking of ways to distract him from wanting to listen to the song on repeat. My other half is a chef and runs a kitchen in The Ouseburn, so I get to spend a lot of my time eating ridiculously yummy food. And I’ve also recently learned to play the ukulele (yes… I have learnt Baby Shark).

What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Drummond Central?

Getting to work with an extremely talented bunch of people who have bundles of creativity, energy and heaps of hospitality. There is a real collective spirit and commitment in the agency to producing top-class, effective work – and I’m really looking forward to being a part of that. There’s also the added luxury of getting to work on an incredible roster of brands, who all share the same passion and ambition the agency has.

Oh, and I’m also looking forward to not having to run around after a one-year-old every day (having just come back off maternity).
